Labor Day weekend is a very special weekend that I have always held close to my heart as it is also is a weekend that my grandpa Davis very much loved its the weekend that "my people" celebrate what is known as "Cherokee National Holiday," I have been going to these festivites since I was a very little girl and even received runner up honors in the Jr Miss Cherokee, I love my hertiage and am very blessed for what my ancestors did in order for our people to survive and would be forever grateful. I have also participated in the the softball tournaments for many years, as to my softball days are now over due to my heart condition (boo) but, I still will go and cheer on my sisters and cousins, as they too play in the tournaments.
Well let me back up, on Saturday 09/, while Shawn worked I got to spend the day and catch up with a very close friend of mine, we have a friendship, we dont have to talk everyday or even every week yet, we still pick up right where we left off... That is a true Friend! Well, we had a blast! In one day i got an email from Shawn's mother with 3 pictures of our niece Haley, who got married!
And my baby sister Megan got ENGAGED!! Yes!! Skittles (Jeff Knox) asked my sister to marry him while on a trip to the dunes with my middle sister and brother in law...
My family is very excited to welcome Skittles to our family, he is a nice guy who treats my sister like she hung the moon.. (here is a pic from Christmas 2009)
So that evening Shawn, Kim and I listened to the Razorback Game, they walked away with a "W" 44-3, that was a great game!!! GO HOGS!!
The next day, Shawn and I headed to Tahlequah, OK for the last day of Cherokee Nation Holiday, as we missed the main festivites on Saturday due to Shawn had to work. So we made it over to the arts and crafts where there is alot of neat stuff, and we still haven't found that "special " bow for Shawn's game room, but here are some pictures .....
I hope everyone had a great and special Labor Day, I will also post some amazing things that I inherited from my grandparents.... very special!!
