I am having a hard feeling about this day, and understand this is my opinion, I feel this day is highly under rated, as out troops are honored ONE day out of 365 days, these are people that leave their families for long amounts of time to go in territory that is unfamiliar and uncertain. They leave the people that love them and they love, with no guarantee that they will return home...... I think we take their willing to fight for our country, our beliefs, our FREEDOM, for granted at times, as I have heard some say "that's their job", " yes, it is their job", but they do it, expecting NOTHING in Return, they do it for their families, we never asked them to, they do it because they are those who are will to protect out country, even if it means their life.... I have been blessed to know some of the greatest veterans, as I am particuarly biasted... My grandpa Meigs, servered in WWII as Sargent Gunner, which WWII was a very defining moment in our history. I have sat and listened to many of his war stories growing up and noticed that the pain and everything that experienced over there was still in the back of his mind, as I would find him telling me a story in mid-story remember something and just stop. And begin talking about another point, my grandpa lived to be 93 years old just shy of his 94th birthday....

My other close veteran was my one and ONLY Shawn. He served in the Navy as a rescue swimmer. yes, he is an amazing swimmer, I was a lifeguard and he puts me to shame! LOL!
So as a surprise I had a little something prepared for him on a day, that was designed for those who put their lives on the line so we can be called AMERICANS..... Shawn is not a selfish person, he is quite, humble, and will go the distance when he starts something, he sees it through. I have seen those same characteristics in others that I have known that went on to serve our country.....
So I called a bakery that is in our area that is amazing when it comes to food, and i wanted this to be special and relate to Shawn so take a look.
Yes, he is my HERO!!
I just wanted to pass on a note, When your laying at home, secure with your family, and you begin to be a little selfish, think about those people who are grieving at home or rubbing the pillow of a loved one that isn't there for the moments in their life, because their life was cute short due, fighting for our rights or still fighting for those right we so truly want to keep.
Say a prayer and be Thankful not just one day, because a soldier never truly leaves battle for they forever hold on to those memories.
Have a Blessed Day!
