Well forgive this LONG blog but, I am combining all our remodeling update! So enjoy.......
As I stated yesterday, we have been in the remodeling phase for over a year now, and trust me I am ready for it to be DUNZO! ha! But, Shawn and I are very happy with the progress that we have made, because, we have done this together and gave us some good tools in working together, so if you want to test your relationship, remodel your house! Trust me you will be happier to know that you can pull through those, "yikes", kind of moments and come out laughing, because, there were a couple of times we wanted to throw our hands up! As we look back, all we remember is the funny points, and my off the wall remarks, that had him looking at me and asking "did you really just ask me how to read a tape measure?"lol
But, he gets me and my off the wall comments.... but here is a look into our UNFINISHED home, it still has alot of decorating, painting, and personal touch left......
OLD front door
NEW front door-picture doesn't do it justice
Outside view of NEW front door
Actually the door only costs us $72.00, YES I know, this is one great thing about Shawn that I love, he knows how to look or find a bargain! We found this door at Home Depot in the clearance section, and it was an unfinished door that Shawn actually, stained and polyurithained! Which is another great thing about him, he is super smart and very good with his hands when it comes to carpentry, he is AMAZING! The hardware on the door we purchased at Lowe's cost us more than the DOOR! The whole story behind how we came home with the door itself is too funny, so Shawn and I share a chuckle....

Another view before a paint job and new front door was installed and if you look closely you can see an old decor that has not yet been replaced yet.... lol!

Okay, I have to tell you this funny little story regarding the clock to the left! Well , I had been full force on trying to locate the PERFECT clock to set off the kitchen, and we both want the house to reflect our personalities, and we have agreed on pretty much everything or we have came to a compromise. But, Shawn and I would spend weekends upon weekends looking for a clock! Well I was becoming irritated because I couldn't find what I was looking for. Shawn decided we should take a break from looking and just have a great time together, so we stopped by a place called "lighting emporium" in Lowell, AR., so as we are browsing and Shawn comes to me and says "which one" and what I see is 5 different clocks into which were about the style we were looking for! And one immediately caught my eye, and I said and pointed "THAT ONE" and Shawn, is like that is what I thought too, it was PERFECT, and here comes Shawn's bargaining eye again, we got the clock for $150.00, it was marked down from a little over $400.00! I was in heaven! That just goes to show how much you find what your looking for, when you weren't even looking! HERE IS the Clock! It FIT JUST RIGHT!
with old curtains but the new red paint!
New ceremic title on the kitchen counters!
We are still in the process on the kitchen as we have to float and texture the walls, before we can paint. And still haven't installed the french doors, before the new ceremic tile floors can be laid.... It is a long, very long process, which we are more anxious than anyone to see it completely done! I will do my best to keep you updated on our progress, but, we are super excited to share it with our family and friends!
Hope you enjoyed glimpses of our home, in progress.... But every home has a story, and as I stated: "HOME IS WHERE YOUR STORY BEGINS" S & T |
